The Wisdom of Famous Christians

“Women should not be enlightened or educated in any way.
They should, in fact, be segregated as they are the cause of hideous and involuntary erections in holy men.”

~ Saint Augustine

Wisdom from a famous naturalist:

"A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy"

-Ingrid Newkirk, President, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

Newkirk is one of my favorite naturalists.

Yes, as I acknowledged in another response I am guilty here of attacking an idiot human rather than the source (bible). It is funny though!

Though she may hold some extreme views, I would guess very few people have done more to reduce the suffering in the world than Newkirk.

I believe that hatred and fear of women stems from christianity's rejection of paganism, which often involved worship of the goddess. Patriarchy wished to denounce the sacred feminine so they destroyed any object or icon of these goddesses (which is, I believe, why the first 3 commandments relate to not worshipping any other gods).

Patriarchy knew tbat in order to keep women in their place, god would have to be a male entity. That way, ultimate authority would rest in the man rather than being equally shared between male and female.

This condemnation of femininity and female spirituality and power led to a fear of sex and sexuality. This, in turn, led to years of horrors against women because of the beliefs of men like this. Women were burned as witches because the devil inside of them aroused men. It was never the man's fault, it was the woman's. Repression of women and sex has led to so incredible much destruction and evil.

Now, when women think they've finally come close to attaining respect, we have women who starve themselves or cut up their faces and bodies so that they can resemble the perfection of hollywood starts and models. It is another symbol of hatred of real femininity. Women are supposed to be so thin that they have no curves or breasts at all - they must resemble 12 year old boys in order to be attractive.

Another way (some) men act out their distrust of women is through crimes such as domestic violence and rape. It is about control - many men have not learned what it means to have an equal partner; therefore, when they cannot control a woman, they become enraged. This they learned from the bible. And with respect to rape, incest, pedophelia and other sexual deviances, I believe that when normal sex is repressed in a culture, it comes out in perversion. We as north american society are so hung up about sex, still. In less religion societies, there is far less issues like this.

Just a few thoughts (that I hope are remotely coherent).

Very coherent and right on the money.
