It’s said prostitution is the world’s oldest profession, but the priesthood, begun by the shaman or witch doctor, is likely older, and screwing with minds as religious leaders do, is far more immoral.

I never said it was an argument against theism. I am suggesting all the people who have ever claimed to speak for the gods have filled people’s heads with erroneous and often toxic ideas.

Surely you would believe this is true in regard to all the shaman, witch doctors and priests for the thousands of gods of history besides your particular god.

This comment reminds me of something.

My evangelical parents tried to brainwash me on the evils of pre-marital sex (as well as anything related to it, such as dancing, rock music, smoking, swearing and drinking - apparently they all lead to sex). It was ironic to me because mom said that every time I have sex with someone, I would lose part of my soul. What I did not realize at the time was that I was virtually soul-less because of my controlling, abusive and religious upbringing. It was not sex that threatened to destroy my soul; it was religion.
